Verra paced around in her stall waiting to be taken out on a ride she had figured out that her had no rider yet but she still wanted to get out of the musty barn

Caroline walked along the row of stables, examining each horse she passed, she stopped in front of Verra and smiled. "Hello girl..." She pulled out an apple from her jacket and held it out to her.
Verra narrowed her eyes a little before sniffing at the apple and then snatched it up she chewed on it and swallowed the apple she became a little more used to the newcomer and waited for her next move

Caroline smiled slightly before placing her hand out as if going to stroke Verra's nose. However she didn't touch her but simply waited for Verra's permission to touch her. She knew a horses trust had to be earned not taken. "You're gorgeous.." She smiled as she looked at the tall mare in awe.
Verra whinnied and bowed her head ever so slightly in response to what sounded like a complement her new rider or that's what Verra thought she was had stretched out her arm to pet her in response to that movement she reared up a few inches and backed away a foot or two

Caroline sighed and placed her hand back down onto the door of the stable. "I guess it's going to take a while for you to trust me huh?" She looked down and placed with the end of her hair.

"Do you want to come for a walk with me? Not riding... just a walk?" She asked as if Verra could understand her. She took the headcollar and lead rope from the hook on the wall and gently placed it on like a bridle but without the metal bit in the mouth.
Dark Night, the newest horse, snorted impatiently. He wanted OUT. The horse didn't yet have a rider, since he had arrived just that morning. Not a whinny had been spoken to anyone. This strong horse was a thoroughbred, found wandering the plains. It had taken several days and many traps to catch him, but they had done it. Born wild, he was taught the ways of a wild horse and still followed these rules. His hind legs kicked out at his strong stall door. Couldn't they see, he could never be tamed?

Caroline sighed as she took the lead rope off Verra, hearing all the commotion she left Verra stable and went to investigate. She glanced at the strong muscular horse and smiled slightly. "Woah boy... Steady you're gonna hurt yourself...." She spoke in a soothing tone as she took a few mint flavoured treats from her pocket and held them out to him.
Dark Night, in fact, did not 'steady'. It was obvious if he EVER had a rider, he needed to respect them. And in order to respect them, they had to be able to handle him and not be too soft, not too whiny, not too impatient. No easy work. Now, he stared at her hand as if it was poison. He didn't trust any humans. He wasn't the Commander of his herd, of course. That Rank belonged to the horse with most common sense. But he was definitely the strongest, biggest horse of his wild herd, and protected it. Dark Night glared stubbornly at her hand, and after a moment, lunged at it as if to draw blood.

She took her hand away before he had a chance to do any damage and sighed. "Looks like you're going to cause trouble around here..." She frowned as she placed the things in her hand back in her pocket. She leant against his stable door and simply watched him. Lowering her head slightly she made an attempt to show him that she meant no harm to him.
The black stallion blew out air and blinked. 'One step out of line, Rider, and your head will be flatter than your self-confidence.' He taunted in his head. Dark Night raked his fore right hoof against the ground for extra measure. There were deep gouges in the ground where he had touched. This horse meant business.
